Program SynopsisSheldon Academy will be open and available for students from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays. On Wednesday the lab will be open at 8:45 a.m. due to staff meetings. Students will utilize the program on a time schedule convenient to their needs rather than an assigned time slot. In addition, Sheldon Academy has limited day class offerings in language arts, social studies, and math.
Mission StatementSheldon Academy is dedicated to providing students with an alternative learning environment that continues their education in a meaningful way. Each Sheldon Academy student will be provided with opportunities in skill development, tutoring, remediation and skill enhancement using the Plato learning system or other available resources particular to the student’s learning needs. Online Learning SystemsThe Plato learning system is an interactive online computer program covering subjects in math and science. Apex Online learning is also available for a limited number of students. Night SchoolStudents in 11th and 12th grades will need to attend ALL seminars in each core area that they have contracted for in order to earn credit. Seminars will be taught on a specific evening each week during a nine week term. Sheldon Academy will only be available to 11th and 12th grade students during the first semester but will be open to sophomores during the second semester on a space available basis. Study CenterER Study Center is open to all students, but priority is given to freshmen and sophomores. PoliciesSheldon Academy is a reference-based system.
