Daily Announcements – Feb 22

Today is Wednesday, February 22, 2017 and these are your morning announcements:

BSU members–Don’t forget! Our new meeting day is Wednesday in the Multicultural Center. From now on, Fridays will only be for students who are committed to forming a Sheldon Step Troupe.

ACT-SO Applications need to be turned in to Ms. Fitz in B-28 by February 28th if you want help finding a mentor for your performance or project.

Peace Jam meets this Thursday in B-28. Come join us.

On February 28th, the College and Career Center and our counseling team will be hosting The OPU (Oregon Public University) Tour! The tour consists of representatives from the seven (7) public universities in Oregon. During the first half of the event, each school ambassador will give a brief overview of their university. The second half of the event will be a college fair style “meet and greet”, with tables set up in the foyer outside the theater. This year we will be hosting the tour during the day, in hopes that more students are able to attend! If you would like to bring your class from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., please message me and I will make sure you have assigned seating! This is a wonderful event for all students and we hope to see you there!

Today is Friday, February 17, 2017 and these are your morning announcements:

BSU will meet TODAY in the Multicultural Center at lunch. Join us to discuss and plan upcoming field trips and events including the AAYLC conference at Linnfield College this year.

Coming in February, is the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Symposium!! This event takes place at Churchill HS, on Saturday, February 25th and is open to ALL high school students! There will be workshops in science, medicine, engineering and technology and admission is free!! Registration is now open on the Churchill High website or on their Facebook Page! Check it out!

Students planning to compete in the Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics or ACT-SO this year, need to turn in their applications TODAY at the BSU meeting. If you want to compete and you need an application, come to B-28 and pick one up from Ms. Fitz. Remember, anyone who earns a gold medal at the local level will be taken to the national competition in Baltimore Maryland in July of this year. Students earn cash scholarships at the national level of $1,000, $750 and $500 in addition to other awards, prizes and scholarships.

Seniors! Back by popular demand, a repeat session of finishing or starting your FAFSA, OSAC, Oregon Promise or LCC Scholarship applications! There will be a scholarship lab TODAY during 3rd period from 11:40-12:40 in the lecture hall, C9. Come check it out and get help finishing your applications.

“Spring athletes don’t forget Spring Registration on Monday February 13th, 4-7:00 in the cafeteria. To help the process go smoothly, come see Kristi in the athletics office and pick the instructions for the online portion of your registration. Also make sure you have a current physical on file. Again come see Kristi with questions.”

Auditions for the spring musical Bye Bye Birdie will be held in the auditorium this week after school as follows:
Monday – Women sing and choreography
Tuesday – Men sing and choreography
Thursday – Cold readings and choreography
Friday – Callbacks

Dublinaires are hosting a fundraiser at Chipotle Mexican Grill on Gateway Street this coming Saturday February 11. We’re trying to raise a bunch of money to get us to Chicago to a workshop with world-famous vocal jazz quartet The New York Voices. Fliers are available in the front office, in the choir room, or electronically by contacting a Dublinaire. We would appreciate your help so very much. Thank you!

It’s almost that time of the year again! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner & it’s time to show that special someone you care. Cupcake club will be selling cupcake grams during lunch over the next few days. Stop by the table outside of the front office to purchase a cupcake gram for $1.00. We will be delivering the cupcakes on Valentine’s Day to your sweetheart in their classroom. Stop by to make Valentine’s Day sweeter.

Attention Japanese Club members and anyone who wants to have some fun with Valentine’s Day. Come to C1 TODAY during lunch to learn about some surprising things people do for Valentine’s Day in Japan. Bring a friend!

Boys golf — you and your parents are invited to meet with Coach Dennis Nakata for important information about the 2017 high school golf season. Practice and tournament schedule along with ways parents can help transport will be covered. Coach Dennis is looking forward to meeting all players and parents Monday night.

Do you like free food? Native American Student Union is giving away free fry bread samples TODAY across from the main office. Come and get some free food and support this club!

Soles 4 Souls takes these shoes & distributes them to third world countries. Starting this week you have until February 17th to drop your shoes off in the front office & help change the world one pair at a time.
