Today is Monday, May 22, 2017 and these are your morning announcements:

The Front Office is looking for a work study student for the next school year. The hours are 1 to 4 pm school days. Interested juniors should contact Julia in the Front Office. A resume and cover letter will be required.
Attention Honors/AP Language Arts & Social Studies students. If you completed at least three Honors & AP classes, you are eligible for the Honors/AP medallion. Please pick up a form from the front office, have your former teachers sign it & turn in to Donna at the front desk in the office.
Attention all seniors! Send in a baby picture, as well as a current photo to be featured in a video shown during the senior breakfast! You can drop your pictures off in a box located in the front office or text them to DeShawn at 541-510-2407. Thanks!

Juniors and Seniors! Willagillespie Grade School is looking for a front desk person for next year’s school year! You must have 4th and 5th periods free and have transporation to the school! Please submit a resume to the secretary at Willagillespie Grade School!

The IHS celebration is TODAY from 5:30 to 8:30, at the Oakway Center. Join us for a night of live music, food, henna, games, raffles and a silent auction. Please come and help support programs of the Eugene International High School. Admission is free.

Sheldon Drivers, please do not park in the visitors parking lot adjacent to the Community Center. It is important to have parking spaces available for visitors. Visitors are instructed where to park when visiting and directed to the visitors parking area. It is only during part of second period that parking spaces are tight. During all other times it is easy to find parking spaces. Thank you for your help.

Students, during lunch, the Sheldon Sport’s Stadium is off limits for hanging out or playing on the turf. The stadium is a classroom, and closed to student access unless there is a teacher or coach present. Thank you for your cooperation.

“The GSA is having a clothing drive Friday after school in room B23. Everyone is welcome to stop by and grab some clothes! Donations can be left in room B23 thought the week.”

Have you ever considered a career in firefighting, emergency medicine or even as a 911 operator??? If so, this announcement is for you! The Eugene/Springfield Fire Department is a hosting a teen career day and you are invited! On Friday, June 2 you will be given the opportunity to experience hands-on training to become a firefighter, EMT or 911 operator!!! This is an all day event and lunch will be provided! Transportation will be your responsibility. Please see Kim in the Career Center for permission slips and additional information about this exciting day!

Seniors! Another scholarship is available! The Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and Museum MacTarnahan Scholarship is open to high school seniors graduating in the year 2017. The due date is May 21st, so hurry and get your copy in the Career Center, today!

Juniors! Lane community College is offering free classes this summer!!! Space is limited and the deadline is May 25th! Flyers with registration information are available in the Career Center!

The Oregon Boys State program is coming up from June 16-20 this year. This is a four day event that teaches students about our local government. It will be held at Willamette University in Salem.

We have scholarships available to cover $300 of the $350 tuition. If a student needs, we can help with the $50 as well. See Kim if you want more info.

The final LCC Placement test will be June 6th at 9 a.m. in A-2. Sign up in the Career Center!

Students! Next week is the Walk and Roll Challenge at Sheldon. We challenge you to walk or roll your way to school next week. Each day you take the bus, or walk, or hop on your skateboard or bicycle your way to school enters you into a raffle prize drawing for some pretty cool prizes: bike lights, helmets, bike locks, fitness computers, and more! The more days you commute to school, the better your chances to win. Each day you commute to school, be sure to drop your name off in one of four boxes Darin Henry will have in the main office to make your commute count and to enter into the raffle. So plan now. Dust off that bike, get out those walking shoes and find a friend to walk or roll into school next week! Have some fun in the sun on your way to and from school and help reduce your impact on the environment.

Seniors: The Senior Checklist is posted outside the front office. Please make sure you check it and take care of any fines, credit issues, naviance surveys, etc. in order to be “CLEAR” to purchase graduation tickets on May 15.

Audition packets for next years; Varsity Choir and Dublinaires are available in the choir room or in the front office. Sign up soon for an audition time on the door inside the music hallway. Auditions run May 23-June 6, with callbacks for Dublinaires on Monday June 12.

Sheldon Theatre’s spring musical Bye Bye Birdie opens Friday night and runs for two weekends. This rock and roll musical is based loosely on the induction of Elvis Presley into the army in 1958. It features some very singable tunes and a lot of fall-out-of-your-seat-laughing moments. The ticket booth is open one hour before performances. Check any poster around school for dates and times. Don’t miss this one!
