Coaching Staff

Welcome to Sheldon Boys Basketball. This is the third year of our coaching staff and we are all very excited about this season and building a quality program that will represent Sheldon and it’s community. We would like to welcome Coach Marques Green to our staff as the Freshman II basketball coach.  Coach Melvin is Varsity Assistant who will be in charge of skill development and conditioning.  We are happy to say that all five of our coaches this season work @ Sheldon High School during the day.  That has been a very important goal in our program. The Irish will continue to play an up-tempo style of basketball that will be fun to play and watch. The following is a bio of our coaching staff so that you can get to know each of our coaches. After high school, Marques went on to the University of Arizona to be a “walk-on”, but was placed on the practice squad.  Refusing to let that keep him down, he went on to Chemeketa Community College in Salem, OR one year later.  There he played for two years and was a part of two league titles.  During his second year, only eight players remained on the team.  Marques averaged forty minutes and led the team to their second straight league title and an eighth place finish in NWAACC Championship during that second year.

After finishing his two years at Chemeketa, Marques went on to play for Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.  Marques suffered a knee injury during his first year at NAU, but was able to bounce back to finish the season strong.  Marques started every game for NAU during his second season, including games against notable teams such as Kansas, Arizona, and Arizona State.

Marques is now looking to take his skills overseas in International Basketball Leagues to further his growth as a basketball player.  Marque has won wherever he has played and knows the type of work ethic it takes to accomplish basketball goals.  He is an extremely hard worker and expects the same from people and players around him.
