4J’s focus this year is on helping students and families understand the importance of consistent attendance in the classroom.
Of course there are times when your student might get sick, have appointments, or might miss class for events. That’s why it’s SO important to be here for the rest of the days when you can. Every day counts and our goal this year is to have all students striving for 90% Attendance or better.
Did you know that students usually take three days to catch up with school work for every one day they miss? Making your child’s daily attendance a priority, especially this early in the school year, is an important way you can help them establish good habits and build their future success!
Sometimes, parents think reducing absences is a job for teachers or the front office clerks. Today’s high levels of chronic absences require action from the whole community, including teachers, administrators, school support staff, school volunteers, community partners, coaches, and of course… our students and families! Families are essential partners and we want to thank you for having conversations with your kids to help them see the value in being here everyday.
